Meet my client Becky.
When Becky came to me, she had tried every restrictive diet in the book to lose weight. Leading up to her wedding, she was only eating 700 calories each day to lose weight.
She had struggled with decades of disordered eating habits that lead her to have anxiety around food and use unhealthy methods in an attempt to control her body.
She was BURNT OUT from the endless diet cycle and was looking for a way to lose weight (for good) in a healthy way. More importantly she’s now a mom and wanted to finally fix her relationship with food once and for all so she could be a good role model for her baby daughter.
The amazing thing about Becky’s story is that she was able to get down to the size she was leading up to her wedding while eating an estimated 1600+ calories each day and while eliminating her food anxiety and restrictive behaviors.
How did we do it? I’ll tell you -
REVERSE DIET
Becky came to me with the goal of losing weight, but our first order of business was to eat more. After years of chronic dieting, we had to slowly increase her calories to help her metabolism heal and prepare her for success with what was to come.
This is not just a physical process, but a mental one as well. After years of chronic dieting it can be scary to increase calories. Becky trusted me and the process, and to her surprise she didn't seem to be gaining weight (though we were not weighing in at this time).
BODY RECOMPOSITION
Before we could move into a weight loss phase, I brought Becky into a body recomposition plan. These plans are great for fueling muscle gain while also being a maintenance point to continue to heal her metabolism.
During this time, we were also able to work through food anxieties and help her navigate holidays, birthdays, trips, and more in a way that was more balanced than she had ever done on her previous diets.
Eventually Becky moved away from tracking and used her newfound knowledge on how to nourish her body to guide her to her goals.
EXERCISE
Now that Becky was feeling more fueled, her energy was on the rise and we could get her exercising more.
Over the course of 2 months, we slowly ramped up her training in the gym starting with a mix of light resistance training and walks and building up to higher intensity resistance training 4 days per week.
In addition, Becky also successfully integrated a stretching routine to improve her recovery so she could minimize soreness.
RESULTS
We never fully went into a weight loss phase - Becky was seeing physical transformations from her body recomposition plan and exercise alone and we only needed to reduce her calories slightly to continue to see progress.
She lost weight over the course of the 6 months we tracked, but even when her weight loss plateaued she noticed her body was still transforming.
Becky recently graduated from my program because she’s thrilled with the results she achieved and feels she is in a better place to navigate her continued journey on her own. Don’t just take my word for it - here’s what she said about her experience:
If you have apprehensions about the cost of hiring Diana, I encourage you to give it a try. What I have gotten out of this experience far outweighs the investment.
Diana has been critical in reversing DECADES of disordered eating and helping me create an improved relationship with food. Through yo-yo dieting, frequent binges, prolonged times severely restricting my calories, and over exercising I was at the end of my rope mentally and physically. Not to mention, I had recently given birth and wanted to make sure my daughter had a solid foundation around nutritional education and didn't have to experience what I did.
From the start, Diana took a very practical and sustainable approach to changing my habits. As soon as the first week I started seeing results. I was spending less time obsessing over food, as well as actually losing weight.
I never felt like I was on a diet because I wasn't. I was building habits that I could maintain for my entire life. I stopped stressing about what to eat when going to restaurants or having guilt about enjoying a treat. I was even able maintain weight loss over Thanksgiving and Christmas (yes, I still ate mashed potatoes and pie). To my surprise I was even able to get back down to the size I was when I was restricting as little as 750 calories a day, but I was easily eating 1,000+ calories more.
However, the most invaluable part of this experience has been what you can't see. Physically my gut health and energy have greatly improved now that I'm properly fueling my body and eating balanced meals and more whole foods. Mentally it feels like a cloud has been lifted now that I am no longer dwelling in what I can and can't eat, weighing food, or experiencing the guilt of having a cookie. I know I am more equipped to make sure my daughter has a healthy relationship with food from the start.
Thank you Diana for the healthy habits and mindset you’ve instilled in me!
